Portraits Croisés 2019

Last week in Paris was the first edition of Portraits Croisés, a French cinematographic event broadcasting old movies from the 70s to celebrate the seventh art. As an official partner of the event, my fashion house Sakina Paris hosted a fashion exhibition paying tribute to Romy Schneider. Each dress from our retrospective collection represents a movie of Romy Schneider that became iconic.

Romy Schneider represents an era, a generation, and more profoundly, an unstoppable pursuit of beauty and freedom, strengthened by a search for perfectionism. Every dress signed by Sakina Paris transcribes the emotion of a movie of her career and reveals with an artistic accuracy why the woman as much as the actress became icons. An irresistible elegant style which reflects both the evolution of women during the three decades of her movies but also a unique and glowing personality.

From the distraught mistress of Les Choses de la Vie to the fatal and solar seductress of La Piscine, passing by the brave role of a prostitute with a big heart in Max et les Ferrailleurs, or again, the loving and fierce woman of César et Rosalie - an authentic ode to sentimental freedom - performed by a happy Romy Schneider in search of emotions, the iconography of her movies highlights a strong and free woman, with a sublimated feminity.

This retrospective collection in honour of the actress offers the occasion to remember an exceptional filmography, made of cult roles and moments of anthology, whose style has been recreated by young designer Sakina, with passion and creativity, in order to celebrate the aesthetic dimension during the exhibition “Portraits Croisés”, organised for the 37th edition of Prix Romy Schneider which pays tribute to the actress who passed away in 1982.

French movie maker Jean Jacques Annaud was the guest of honor of the ceremony and hosted a book signing, along with French comedian Brigitte Fossey who came for the inauguration, both of them making a speech before the screening of the movie "Un Mauvais Fils" starring Patrick Dewaere.

Last but not least, on the 5th day of the festival, French actor Lambert Wilson was rewarded with a special prize celebrating 30 years of acting career. I was lucky enough to be on the photocall with him and capture a historical moment! I wore a lurex ensemble from my ready-to-wear collection.

After a successful week, Portraits Croisés will have its second edition next year in 2020. May this festival give to each spectator the desire of celebrating the magic of cinema. Scroll down to see all the pictures.
