Prix Romy Schneider 2018

Last night was the big night for the French movie industry : the well-known Prix Romy Schneider celebrated its 36th edition at Hotel Lancaster in Paris. My fashion house Sakina Paris was one of the official partners of the event, along with Renault and Mac, and we couldn’t be prouder to participate in such a beautiful event with these successful big brand names. Prix Romy Schneider - named after our famous late actress - is a French award ceremony that celebrates the starting career of a young actress. Among the selection, three actresses were named : Camélia Jordana, Adeline D’Hermy and Laetitia Dosch.

I had the honour of dressing Adeline D’Hermy from La Comédie Française (one of the Parisian oldest institutions) : my studio team came up with a silk organza short dress embroidered with appliqués. I love the butterfly sleeves that gives a graceful movement to the arms, and the detail of Dentelle on the hem line! Dressing an actress for such a big occasion can be challenging sometimes, between mood swings, hesitations and last minute changes, but Adeline was confident and very involved in the creative process. We even came up with the idea of a unique matching bag that held her initials beaded by hands!

On the day of the award ceremony, Adeline had her makeup done by MAC cosmetics, and they created a natural look that was highlighting her candid beauty and her fair complexion, perfectly contrasting with the darkness of the dress. Nothing more Parisian than the no-makeup look…! I was extremely thrilled when she was awarded best actress of the year in front of the crowd of journalists. And all the more honoured as I made the dress of the winner. On the other hand, Nahuel Perez Biscayart was awarded best actor for Prix Patrick Dewaere. After winning the César earlier this year for the powerfully moving “120 battements par minute”, he really deserved a second gratification. We created a unique MacBook calf leather case embroidered with his initials especially for him.

I picked up a formal look on myself for the big night: a black wrap dress from the ready-to-wear collection that is so elegant, yet comfortable. I love a simple dress that makes you look instantly elegant with no extra effort. I paired it with a Dior clutch and a sleek bun for a more sophisticated look. What it means for me to be an official partner for Prix Romy Schneider is that it supports young talents and give them a platform to express their own style and vision. As a young entrepreneur, they inspire me and I can completely identify with any artist from my generation.
